So about last night (Wednesday, March 22)β¦
ICYMI there was this volleyball game in the gym. New home team, lots of nerves, strong opposition, the formidable John Caldwell Golden Knights, with years of practice, games and competitions, a full house of spectators (home and away), some city volleyball people, concession stand, fresh popcorn, it was a whole show. Talk about entertainment on a Wednesday whooo.
5 sets for our girls to show who they are. Did they win? Not on the scoreboard. But wow! Listen people this is a team! They are strong and committed and supportive. They are gracious and respectful and just good people. And their potential? Sheesh ladies you got this!
This from Coach Bailey βI could not be prouder of how they performed. They had some tough service to deal with but stepped into it. They show incredible promise and this was their very first game as a team and for some, actually MOST, their very first game of competitive volleyball ever. They are incredible. They understood the assignment. They are a true team!β
A few shout outs from this reporter:
Christina for her attitude and vocal support (someone might need a throat lozenge today) what a way to fire up the team through all five sets. She never wavered, she was all in.
Sarah was fierce, had her head in the game on so many levels. I don’t know of many players with concussions from volleyball but she could be a contender. Strong and aggressive and great spirit.
Jenny for her overall enthusiasm, support plays and soft serves that threw the other side into chaos and always a huge smile.
Yuki for her determination and focus. A real game changer.
Briannarose for her ability to dig.
Ana for her innovative blocking.
Monica for her consistency, reliability and her sets. WOW.
Every. single. player contributed in a positive way. Congratulations girls. What a great season opener. Thank you for a most entertaining evening.
